As a charity, the YMCA of Oakville is committed to helping people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities reach their potential. Last year, they focused on youth and how to involve them by having interaction with supportive leaders, building connections with fellow peers, and giving them a voice and role. The 29,915 people who participated in YMCA programs, the 11,665 who pursued greater health and well-being, the 4,668 children who developed new skills, character and confidence at summer camp, the 1,860 children and adults who learned to be safe around water, the 3,768 children who were nurtured and cared for in child care and before and after school programs, the 9,824 people who found a sense of belonging through community outreach programs, and 1,798 people in need who receive financial assistance for YMCA programs are indicative of the huge impact this organization, their board, staff and volunteers make in our community. We salute them all!!
