Did you know there are individuals of all ages across Oakville struggling to provide the basic necessities for their family? And the number is growing! Kerr Street Mission (KSM) is a community organization that provides essential services for our most vulnerable neighbours. It is a catalyst that brings the community together, including other agencies and an army of volunteers, to develop and deliver programs and partnerships that are making a difference in the lives of many in need.

Over the past 12 months, KSM has served more than 25,000 meals to those who would otherwise go hungry. Approximately 18,000 hours of after school care was provided to low income families. Almost 2,000 hours of educational support was delivered to a group of 20+middle school students. More than 24,000 hours of training and support were provided to new mothers. And this is just a sampling of KSM’s program offerings.

In 2016 KSM launched 2 new and exciting off-site programs that help families transition from distress to a more stable and manageable reality. So far 76 families have benefited from the one-on-one support, guidance and benevolence the program offers. Beginning in February, KSM is will be hosting an innovative high school program in conjunction with the Halton District School board. The program will help those students that are struggling or are at-risk of not graduating re-engage in learning and cope better with the challenges they face.

Thank you Kerr Street Mission for helping us care for our neighbours in need.
